A wonder of wonders has come to our small, but exquisite county of Rappahannock. It has been chosen from out of the many for the summer home of a music colony.
Has it been chosen because of its picturesque mountain scenery? - If so, a peculiarly beautiful spot must be selected by some sparkling mountain river or lake with the. Blue Ridge for background, only seeking cover when-the rain comes down. The same concerts given in Constitution Hall that were given at the “Water Gate”, would only have' attracted the - music lovers of the District. Those down by the Potomac with the lights coming on at twilight and the music makfpg of it a fairy scene, brought crowds fruin neighboring states. ;Lj , Was it the whole-hearted, appreciative response of Rappahannock’s people that has eaused this honor to be bestowed on us? ’ .'*•
Our fine organists and sweetvoiced choirs give evidence of oar musical talent. Hearing good muf sic will develop talent in those who are all unconscious of pofc> ceasing such, an inspiration to all, .. especially to our children.
It is impossible for us to reckon the value of a music colony to {Rappahannock and her $ster counties. Its fame going afar, we may have in our midst another Bollywood.' Who knows! ' * *
