Ceiling prices on beef cattle is a general gripe and probably rightfully so; however, it peers like our members of Shen-Valley Meat Packers, Inc. have an advantage. Since apparently under the new regulations cattle are to be priced on a dressing percentage basis, and this plant capsaccurately determine such to a fraction, members should not worry about anyone out-guessing or out-talking them on this point. Then, too, members will share equally in the profits made on the meat processed and sold by Shen-Valley.*

Rappahannock Fruit Growers are again reminded that Professor Teske will be here for a discussion of their orchard problems today, May 24, at 8 o’clock this evening at the Courthouse in Washington.

Also tentative plans are to have a peach-thinning demonstration (hose method) on June 1 by Fred Dreiling, also of VPI Horticulture staff.

Finally the new bayonet point ordered somt time ago for the county-owned motor-driven shearing outfit arrived. Frank Grimsley has been taught how to operate this machine and is making good progress as a shearer. Brewton and Lee Settle are shearing with the electric shears, so with three rigs going there should be no ex-i cuse for anyone hot to have their sheep shorn by wool-pooling date, June 14. HOWEVER, DON’T WAIT until the last minute tomake your shearing plans. All of these shearers have their own crops, livestock, and general farm work to look after and there have been some idle machines when they could have been away shear-* ing, . ' : '• * - • • -
