Church, September zs, 1854. It is thought the church building was completed at this time, and the same building is being used today. -
The first congregation was composed of 6 men and 18 women as charter members of the church- They were members of “good standing” from the mother church of the same faith and order; Mount Salem Baptist church- In October, 1854 Barnett Grimsley became the first pastor and the church became affiliated with the Shiloh Association of the General Baptist Association of Virginia.
In October, 1864, during the Civil War, a theological student by the name of Albert Willis was buried in the cemetery back of the church. Willis was taken captive the day before and was put to death without ’trial. While he was not a chaplain of the Confederate Army, he was carrying on a pastoral service for the men in Mosby’s Rangers.
In the year 1872 the church called Thomas F. Grimsley, son of the much beloved pastor. He served for seven years and was followed by S. J. Fristoe, Hugh Goodwin, Atwell Tucker and F. P. Berkley. The church membership was increased to a total of sixty-five at the turn of the centuryOther

- At the business meeting of October 9, 1950 'the congregation adopted a Constitution and By-Laws. Article 1 stated that the church name would be changed to First Baptist Church, Flint Hill, Virginia- Committees were set up by the constitution and the rotating system was adopted for the election of deacons. The Unified Budget has been in effect for two years and a Yearbook for 1951 was published through efforts of the Program Planning Com mittee.
The deacons of the church are O.W. Gilbert, Jr., R. H. Dulaney, Charles B. Woo'd, David Corbin, Dick Latham and Brue J. Wood. The church clerk is Miss Ruth Stevens and Mrs- Claude Cook, organist. The present membership of the church is one hundred and thirty-three and worship services are held on the second and fourth Sundays- The Church School is held every Sunday morning and Charles B. Wood is superintendent.
