'Finger in Accident

» Hugh S. Atkins lost the first joint on the first finger of his left hand in a painful accident which occurred Friday while he was working'on the motor of a sprayer.

Accompanied by Dr. Snead, Mr. Atkins went to Front Royal hospital to have the finger dressed, returning to his home in Sperryville the same evening. He has suffered a great deal, but is getting along fine.

Society Met

With Mrs. Carlton Atkina

The missionary society of Reynolds Memorial Baptist church, Sperryville, met Saturday at the home of Mrs. Carlton Atkins, witn ten members present. Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Jr., was in charge of the program and Mrs. S. E. Hening •had the devotional. Discussions of the program topics were given by Mrs. H. B. Winfrey and Mrs. Gene Wopd. At the close of the meeting refreshments were served by the hostess.

The Flint Hill Garden Club mec Wednesday, May 16, at the home of Mrs. M. R. Bradford with ten members present. Mrs. Galley W. Smith, Jr., was in charge of the program, giving a report on the lecture of Mrs. Kistner, held May 14, at Sperryville. Mrs. John S. Browning was awarded first prize for her arrangement. Mrs. J. P. Cook was awarded first place in the specimen class, with an iris..

To Honor Miss Pendleton

The Auxiliary of Trinity Episcopal church will entertain in honor of Miss Eleanor Pendleton and Lt. Thomas V. Monahan, June 11, before the rehearsal of the widding party, at a buffet supper in the yard of Mr. and Mrs. tieoYge H. Davis, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. W. Arthur Miller will entertain at a wedding breakfast June 12, in honor of Miss Pendleton and Lt. Monahan, for the wedding party and out-of-town guests' at their home “Mt. Prospect”.
