Sue Slaughter Group Met
At Washington October 11
The Sue Slaughter Group meeting was held at the Washington Baptist church Saturday, October 11, with Mrs. C. B. Johnson, leader, presiding.
The theme: This is the Victory That Overcomes the World—Even Our Faith. The Rev. S. Felton Carter gave the opening devotional.
Other speakers on the program were Mrs. John S. Browning, Mrs. Cletus Clark, Mrs. Lawton Blankenbaker, Miss Dorothy Spicer, Miss Bertha Norman, and Miss Russell Colvin.
Miss Colvin introduced Miss Ora Lea, as guest speaker, a former missionary to China and Formosa, and presented Miss Lea a corsage from Mrs. W. F. Moffett. Miss Lea rave interesting talks during the aorning *and afternoon sessions, laving Several ladies dressed in native costumes.
Mrs. James Atkins sang a solo, accompanied by Mrs. George Taylor at the piano.
Mrs. W. C. Campbell gave a Talk on Mrs. Sue Slaughter, for #hom the group was named, antL presented A. J. Slaughter, her son, ai*d a deacon of the Washington Baptist church. It being Mr. Slaughter’s birthday anniversary, the group sang “Happy Birthday” to him.
The following officers were elected for the coming year, Mrs. C. B. Johnson, group leader; Mrs. J. Frank Jones, assistant leader; Mrs. C. R. Racer, secretary-treasurer; Miss Mary Miller Wood, missicto study; Mrs. A. C. Latham, community missions; Mrs. C. C. linn, literature chairman; Mrs. C. 1. Hite, stewardship; and Mrs. laymond Johnson, young people.
