Soil Saver Notes
Lelia Gentry, of Rappahannock High School; Guy Standish, a 5th grader at Sperryville School; and Billy Wines, a 3rd grader at Reager School, took top honors in the “Natural Resources Conservation” poster contest, sponsored by the Culpeper Soil Conservation District.
In the high school contest, Delores Thompson placed second and Betty Atkins, third. Edward Miller, Reager School and Shirley Smoot, Sperryvile, placed second and third respectively, in grades 4 to 7. In the first three grades, Joseph Ralls of Reager School took second honor and Tish Kilby of Sperryville took third.
Mayor Davis, Mrs. R. V. Snead and Alfred M. Hictyman acted as judges for the contest. The judge stated that “The 60 students who prepared posters in Rappahannock County did an excellent job.”
Delores Thompson placed second in the five county district competition. The Supervisors of the Culpeper Soil Conservation District take this opportunity to congratulate the students of Rappahannock County for their ^interest in Conservation.
Business is good and is expected to remain so through mid-December, according to a survey made by the National Association of Purchasing Agents.
