Barbara Griffith, Reporter The R.C.H.S. Seniors, along with the other high school seniors in Northern Virginia, were invited to attend the Virginia-George Washington University football game at Charlottesville Saturday. Only ten of the twenty-eight seniors were able to accept this invitation. They were accompanied by H. B. Winfrey, Mr. and *• Mrs. Donald Groseclose, Nick Cascio and Willis Burke. .
The Lemley Studios of Stephens City will send a photographer to R.C.H.S. on Friday, October 17 at 9 a.m. The pupils and any others who wish to come may have their pictures made._____——
The winners of the Poster Contest, which was held during Natural Resource Conservation Week’ October 12-18, sponsored by the Culpeper Soil Conservation District, are: Grades 1-3: 1st, Billy Wines, Reager; 2nd, Joseph Ralls, Reager; 3rd, Tish Kilby, Sperryville. Grades 4-7: 1st, Guy Standish, Sperryville; 2nd, Edward Miller, Reager; 3rd, Shirley Smoot, Sperryville. Grades 8-12: 1st, Lelia Gentry; 2nd, Delores Thompson ; 3rd, Betty Lou Atkins. Three of these posters are to be judged with the posters of the other four counties who are participating in the contest.
There are 332 pupils enrolled in the bight school and elementary grades. 8v oflHese pupils are in" the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. There are ,91 pupils in the 8th .grades, 40 in the 9th grade, 54 in the 10th grade, 30 juniors and 28 seniors.
On Monday, October 13, the Forest Fire Fighters' Meeting was organized. About 50 members enrolled under the supervision of Raymond Johnson.
The General Science Classes of R.C.H.S. took a trip on Saturday, October 11, to Washington, D. C., under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Groseclose and Nick Cascio. While there they visited the Museum of Natural History, the Smithsonian Institute, the Capitol, the Freer Art Gallery and the Washington Monument. These pupils reported having an enjoyable trip as well as an interesting and educational one. Clyde Atkins drove the school bus.
Miss Bland, instructor of business courses, will leave October 22 for Richmond to attend the Virginia Education Association Convention. She is a delegate representing Rappahannock County. Miss Bland will also attend the Virginia Business Educatibn Association o£'which she is . a member of the Board of Directors.
Donald L. Groseclose, vocational agriculture instructor of R.C.H.S., attended the district federation meeting of the F.F.A. at Luray, Tuesday night, October 14. The purpose of the meeting was to elect the officers for the coming year.
