Our natural resources are the very foundation of our great industrial and agricultural strength. Productive land on which good crop's, pastures or firests will grow and which will sustain wildlife is the most valuable resource on earth. The misuse and improper treatment of our land over the years has caused accelerated soil erosion, ruinous floods, sedimentation of our reserviors and harbors and many other forms of severe damage.
Experiments conducted at our Land Grant College at Blacksburg show that the steeper slopes when used to produce an open cultivated crop such as corn may loose as high as 90 to 100 tons cf soil per acre.for year.
