Thursday, October 23, Gid Brown H.D. at 2 p.m. Friday, October 24, Estes H.D. with Mrs. David Woodard at 2 p.m. Atiss Nellie Johnson, county chair’ man, appeared with the home agent on the radio Thursday at noon. The 53 calendar planned at the fall planning meeting was the topic of discussion. Rappahannock home agent will be in charge of a radio program every third Thursday in Culpeper WCVA from 12:00 to 12:15. Paula Miller, president, presided at the Flint Hill 4-H meeting Monday evening. Lynn Atkins, song leader, lead the group in singing “Swanee River” and “4-H Trail." Ivory Atkins conducted devotions for the club. During business meeting Millie Sisk was elected secretary. Committee chairmen apponited were: Finance— Ivory Atkins. School—Lynn Atkins. Sick—Eleanor Atkins. Program Leader—Gertrude Shipp. =
During project work the group selected the projects, “Looking Your Best" and "So You’d Like To Sew."
New members to join were: Doris Nicholson, Amenta Wood, Barbara Atkins, Dorothy Atkins, Ruth Anne Foster, Gertrude Shipp Jean Lillard,
Sperryville III Club selected as their project So You’d Like To Sew. Evelyn Miller demonstrated the correct setting of the table. During business meeting, presided over by Betty Sisk, president, the following committee chairmen were appointed: Sick—Elizabeth Smith. School—Kenneth Clater. Finance—Evelyn Miller.
Neville Wood presided at the regular meeting of Sperryville 4-H. Carolyn Turner conducted group singing and Annie Dodson read the devotions. Carolyn Turner gave a
talk on origin of Halloween. Then Sperryville I 4-H divided into two groups at their regular meeting. The following officers wrere elected:

News from the Ninth District tells of the candidacy of the Hon. Melville M. Long, of St. Paul, for Congress from “The Fighting Ninth.” ^Senator Long, as he is called from his service of two terms in the House of Delegates and three terms in the State Senate, is listed as a farmer and stock-raiser, a successful and conservative businessman and banker, and a life-long Democrat.
His friends in his native community, Woodville, are watching his election campaign with interest.
