Star Carriers Meet
In Rappahannock
With 34 Star Mail Carriers present, the first of smaller district meetings was held Sunday in the Courthouse in Rappahannock. Coming from as far away as Covington and Petersburg, these carriers may have marked history in this first meeting of its kind ever held in the state. Previously, Star Carriers have held a statewide meeting and sent delegates to v the national convention, but this year, 1 through the efforts of J. E. Ellmore, smaller district meetings are being held.
The purpose of the organization of Star Carriers is two-fold: to see that Star Carriers, maintain a high character in membership, and improve the conditions of working for the members.
In response to the suggestion made by J. E. Ellmore, a Star carrier in Rappahannock County, this meeting % was marked with approval by the attendance of the national and state presidents, as well as other officers of the central organization. Frank > Russell of Oregon, president of the national convention, was present; as was F. A. Bristow of Richmond, state president; and W. L. Lunsford of Staunton, secretary and treasurer.
