Rev. Gibson to Speak
At Slipper Meeting
Leading men and women from the congregations of the Episcopal Church in the Valley Convocation will hear the Rt. Rev. Robert F. Gibson, Jr., D.D., Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese of Virginia, at a supper meeting at the George Washington Hotel, Winchester, Friday, October 24, at 6:45 p.m. The Convocation comprises the Episcopal congregations in the city of Winchester and the counties of Clarke, Fauquier, Frederick, Loudoun, Madison, Page, Prince William, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, and Warren.
The meeting, October 24, will be in the interest of the United Every Member Canvass, for local church budgets and the $1,300,000 Bishops’ Building Fund. The latter is a great home mission program of capital.expansion within the Diocese.
The general diocesan chairman is a Valley man, B. Powell Harrison, Jr,, of Leesburg. The Convocation chairman is Dr. Monford D. Custer, Jr., of Winchester. They, with the Dean of Valley Convocation, The Rev. Harold B. W. Peters, of The Plains, will be in charge of the meeting.
The annual Couitcil of the Diocese meeting last May in Christ Church, „ Winchester, authorized the united campaign for this Fall.
