Delay breeding dairy cows until at least 60 days after calving. -
Keith Huston, associate dairy husbandman at VPI, says research has clearly indicated that the best conception rate is obtained in dairy cows bred at least 60 days after calving. He explains that the cow’s reproductive organs need about two months td recover from the strain trf carrying a calf. When not given enough time to recover, cows often cannot maintain a pregnancy. As a result the cows come back in heat again. "j
