Coast Guard Examinations
Given February 24-25, 1953
Representative Burr P. Harrison has announced that the nation-wide competitive examination for entrance to the United States Coast Guard Academy will be given on February 24 and 25, 1953.
Graduates of the Academy, which is located in New London, Connecticut, receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering and an Ensign’s commission in the Coast Guard.
“Appointment to the Academy is strictly by competitive examination, and there are no Congressional appointments,” Mr. Harrison emphasized.
He said young men interested should write for information to Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, 25 D. C.
Candidates must be single, between the ages of 17 and 22, and have high school diploma or be scheduled for graduation by next June 30. All applicants must have three units'-pf
English, two of algebra and one each of Physics and plane geometry.
