Propose 10c Levy
Increase For Schools
In Wednesday'|s meeting of the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors held in the Courthouse, a motion was made by Supervisor A. H. Buckner and seconded by Supervisor W. C. Campbell ‘to raise the present $3.15 levy 10c and earmark this sum as a . sinking fund for a building program for the schools.” The vote was two against, Supervisor Cook and Latham, and three for, Buckner, Estes, and Campbell. A. meeting for the final decision on this additional levy was set for May 10 at 10 o’clock.
Mrs. Elizabeth Buntin, Welfare Superintendent, and Mrs. C. E. Johnson Jr., appeared before the Board to discuss the proposed regional home for the aged and chronically ill. They had been authorized to come before the Board by a large delegation who met to discuss the proposed home, Friday night. W. C. Campbell made a motion for Rappahannock “to be included in the original set-up for a Regional Home, provided no funds have to be appropriated in 1954-55 budget and not in excess of $4,000 per bed.”" After lengthy discussion, both pro and con, there continued to be no second to the motion.
