Gilbert Operetta
The R.C.H.S. Gled Qub is preparing, as its operetta for this year, Gilbert’s (of Gilbert and Sullivan) “Creatures of Impulse.” The plot concerns a tiny village in Flanders* Mistress Martha (Betty Rutherford) her niece, Pepette (Mary Norman Davis) ; Peter (Tommy Carpenter) and Boombleheart, the miser (Jimmy Yates) are very excited over the arrival of the famous Sargent Kloogue, (Gaily Smith), who is to spend his furlough at Martha’s Inn. However, their joy is dampened by a, problem. A mysterious Old Lady (Lelia Gentry) has been staying at the inn but won’t pay any rent. The villagers decide to try to force her to go only to find she is a witch. She lays on each of them a spell in the form of an irresistible impulse.
The operetta will be presented Friday evening, April 9 at 7:30 p.m.
