Rappahannock farmers who have purchased Western yearling ewes to strat new flocks or to increase the size of that on hand krc: Mrs. D. L. Regan of Slate Milk,' 12 head; Lt. Gen. G. D. Noce! of Castleton, 18 head; Ralph Ingersoil of Castleton, 10 head; Mrs. D. B. Smith of Washington, 10 head; James E. Yates, Slate Mills, 30 head and F. P. Willson, Flint Hill, 8 head. These ewes were from the finest lot of north-west yearlings I’ve ever seen weighing in the neighborhood of 120 lbs., gentle and with a complete bill of health. Congratulations to these farmers—Rappahannock can well afford more sheep frequently referred to as “the depression crop” since there is usually good profit in the business even in the tightest of times.
Incidentally I hear insurance on sheep killed by dogs is available at 95c per hundred j dollar valhe. Have been told Aetna whites it. Certainly worth investigating.
George Allen, Secretary, Virginia Sheep Breeder’s Association, advises tentative dates for ram sales in this section have been set as follows: July 13th in Orange; July 18th at Winchester; July 20, in Staunton and August 4th at Harrisonburg.
