Shed And Pick-Up
Destroyed By Fire
A large loafing shed and a 1956 Dodge pick-up were destroyed by fire last Wednesday at the farm of Thompson Adams near Sperryville. Origin of the blaze was not determined, according to T. C. Lea, Jr., who is manager of the farm. Property loss was estimated in excess of $5,000.
Robert Jenkins, a farm worker, had loaded the truck with hay and left it in the shed while he went to turn out cattle. When he returned a little later to take the truck "tead of hay to the field to feed the animals, he discovered the hay in the loft and around the truck ablaze. Jenkins attempted to pull the truck from the barn with a tractor when the gas tank exploded and the vehicle was destroyed. ^
Sperryville and Washington fire companies responded to the alarm but the building was too far gone to save.
