Noah didn’t have this fatal! ism in his philosophy of life, i The Hebrew writer did not see ! meaningless chaos in the ca| tastrophe. He saw God dealing with a rotten society and though there was no hope for society as a whole, a Remnant was spared. This small minority, the salt of society, was sometimes spared for its own sake, sometimes for the sake of those who were to come after. But in either case God was at work, there was meaning in the current events of their day.

It would be unwise for our generation to consider itself immune to the moral consciousness of a righteous God. Our generation is responsible for one of the most hideous crimes ever committed by man. The slaughter camps, through which our religious forefathers, the Jews, were herded during World War II makes fiction seem naive. To watch the documentation of this crime during that excellent movie Judgment at Numberg, is to see man at an historic low and Jo hear the audible sighs from the audience is to experience—corporate sorrow. I can’t leave Noah’s day with an air of smugness, my own generation makes me marvel at the depth of God’s patience.
