Finals Programs for
Elementary Schools
Commencement e x e rcises for Was hington Elementary School are scheduledfor Wednesday night, June 3 at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium. Mr. O. A. Norton, Superintendent of Schools, will present certificates. The Rev. Arnold Sorrells will lead devotions. The theme of commencement exercises is “Gates*. Seventeen students will receive certificates. The public is invited to attend. Sperryville Elementary School will hold graduation exercises Thursday night, June 4 at 8 p.m. at the school. Approximately 42 seventh grade students will receive certificates which will be presented by T. R. Kilby, chairman of Rappahannock County School Board. The theme of commencement is “Dawn of Tomorrow* which includes preparedness, attitudes, achievement, pro. gress, creativeness, hope and faith. Special music will be presented.
Ham-Chicken Dinner
The ladies of Chester Gap will hold a ham and chicken dinner, Saturday, May 30, starting at 5 o’clock, in the Chester Gap Fire Hall for the benefit of the Volunteer Fire Department. $1.25 for adults and 60 cents for children. The public is invited to attend.
Hike To Red Oak
Scheduled Sunday
Rappahannock Hiking Club ^ has scheduled a hike Sunday, May 31 to begin at 1:30 p. m. and welcomes anyone who wishes to attend. All hikers will meet at Woodville Church at 1:30 and proceed from there across Red Oak Mountain. This is an especially scenic hike and will not be too strenuous since it is the first outing for some time. Forest Warden Raymond Johnson will lead the group.
