Among the prominent radio men invited to attend the affair were Mr, Ken Gordon, Vlanager, Radio Station WFTR ind members of his staff. In announcing the event, Francis Goldsmith, Chairman, Public and Business Affairs Committee of the local Kiwanis group, noted the numerous contributions the local station has made daily in keepLng citizens informed on various national and area Issues and in providing boardcast time for the promotion of various civic projects, and he stated, *It is doubtful if Kiwanis could have successfully completed its programs of service to the community without this Invaluable publicity.* A recent study disclosed that radio stations and networks donated about $300 million worth of air time to public service projects each year. Citing the many career opportunities in the Radio Industry, Mr. Goldsmith explained that an estimated three thousand junior and senior college students are majoring in broadcasting at 111 American colleges Ind universities. Good radio, presented in the public interest, convenience, and necessity has been a tradition of Radio Station WFTR since the station began broadcasting. Kiwanis is proud to be a part of the national salute to the men and women of the aroadcasting fraternity-f o r their dedicated public service, In the highest traditions of iemocracy, and call on area residents to pay tribute to the management and staff of Station WFTR during this National Radio Month.
Flint .Hill Homemakers Hold Regular Meeting
The Flint Hill Homemakers Club met with Mrs. Paul Miller on Tuesday, May 16th. Miss Harriet Goode gave a talk on Time Saving in Housecleaning and told how to make at home cleaning solutions. Those present were Mrs. Barbara Gentry, Mrs. Lloyd Pullen, Mrs. James Bly, Mrs. Wade Pullen, Mrs. James Grimmer, Mrs. Will Putnam, Mrs. Willie Payne.
