A two-vehicle collision in which one person was killed and three injured occurred at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, September 27 at the west limits of the Town of Washington. This is the third traffic fatality in the county this year* Abner Morris Russell, a 23 year-old Negro of Falls Church, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Dr. John P. Snead, according to Trooper W. A. Buntin. He Sustained a broken neck and crushed chest. Russell, a former resident of Huntly, Rappahannock County, was a passenger in a '61 Ford owned and operated by Walvie Jones, also of Falls Church. The Jones car went out of control into the left lane of the highway skidding sideways. It was struck in the side by an oncoming vehicle, a 55 Mercury, driven by Bransom Lynwood Pullen of Washington.
