BCIA ContestContinued

from page 1 selection. Results ot tne contest indicate the falicy of this method while the results of BCIA computations proved accurate as a culling and selection tool. C. E. Johnson, Jr. reported that since he first entered his herd in the BCIA program in 1955 he has increased the weaning weight of each calf by 108 lbs. and at the same time inproved grade! His cost chargeable to BCIA he estimated at $2.00 per calf. The new Commerical Program furnishes cattlemen the same data as does the Official Program which is designed for purebred herds. Now is a good time for commercial cattlemen to enter. The only BCIA charge is the $10.00 membership fee no matter whether you have twenty or a hundred head. Based on prices paid at the feeder calf sale held the next day in Culpeper the fast gaining calf would be worth $43.65 more than the slow growing calf at the same age!
