Mrs. Betty Powers, school representative of the C & P Telephone Co. visited the third grade class to discuss with them what they had learned about using telephones. The 7th grade class saw a movie "A Manner of Speaking”, and each student in this class was given a booklet entitled “The Voice with a Smiley Helpful hints on improving one’s telephone personality in eluded the following suggestions: courtesy and though* fulness should be expressed in a tone of your voice; speaking' distinctly and with the proper speed assures your being understood easily and accurately; a moderate but lively tone of voice will show you’re alert and interested; and let your voice be friendly
and helpful - “the voice with a smile”.

Beginning March 1, and effective until May 15, Chief Forest Warden of Rappahannock County, Raymond M. Johnson and other Division of Forestry personnel will enforce the law rigidly and impartially. This work will be aided by the operation of the forest fire lookout towers and airplane patrol during the critical periods. The co-operation of all persons in observing care when burning can save t h o u s a nd s of acres of forest lands from damage and destruction this year.
