In addition to the Seal Campaign funds in the amount of $37,896.26, monies earmarked for demonstration and special projects were authorized for expenditures in paying the county’s share in Fauquier and Loudoun, for a public health nurse to bring up to date the backlog of work with tuberculosis cases suspects and contacts. Requests for equipment in setting up a pulmonary testing laboratory and an item for acute respiratory treatment in children in the Winchester M e m o r ial Hospital were discussed by the board and passed on to the Medical Advisory Committee for recommendation as the equipment in question was of a highly technical medical nature. Planned seminars for nurses and doctors regarding latest problems and treatment of tuberculosis and respiratory diseases, in cooperation with organized medical organizations, were approved.
The feasibility of having a course on health and physical fitness included in the educational TV programs for school children and/or adults is to be investigated.
Authorization was granted for participating in community services with the health departments such as tuberculir testing, X-ray surveys and X-ray clinics.
