Plan of Work
At their quarterly meeting last Wednesday, the Board of Directors of the Tuberculosis and Health Association of Northern Virginia adopted a plan of work and a record budget of $48,430.26 for the fiscal [year beginning April 1, 1965. j The speaker for the evening was Dr. W. W. Wendt, of Richmond, Executive Director of the Virginia Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association. Stating that Virginia had 2,252 newly reported cases of TB last year, or 47.4 per 100,000 people, put the state | third from the top'Sfter Alaska land Tennessee in leading the nation in case rate. He recommended that the board and staff should work together to find j the unmet needs in tubercu: losis and chronic respiratory disease control, and after such 'a stock-taking should redirect its efforts to make the best use ; of its resources. Dr. Wendt brought out that the basic goals and objectives of all tuberculosis associations are to advance the eradication of tuberculosis; to advance the control of other respiratory diseases; in support thereof to advance adequate school health programs, j adequate official health departments; and improved public health through general health education. The speaker felt that the findings of such a study should be' used in future planning and should result in improved association performance and accomplishments.
