Rainfall Figures
The rainfall figures compiled by Miss Ruby Jenkins for the National Weather Bureau of the Department of Commerce show that although our last three months were dry that they were not the driest during the 21 years recorded. For October of 1965 there was 2.88 inches of rain whereas there was only 0.37 in. for the same period in 1944 and none whatever in that whole month for 1963, but in 1959 there was the record rainfall of 7.24 in. November 1965 had a rainfall of 0.69 in. with less rain in 1944, 1946 and 1949. The years 1962 and 1963 were records with there being 7.58 both years. December 1965 had 0.15 with even less in 1955 with only 0.11 in. but as much as 5.15 inches has fallen in December in other years. According to Miss Jenkins the average for the ten months recorded in 1965 was 2.11 inches making it a little less than the monthly average which had been 2.97 inches for the years between 1944 and 1964.
