Water Impoundment
Studies being Made
At the request of your County Agent, and others, Area Engineers of the Soil Conservation Service made preliminary surveys of water impoundment sites in certain areas of the county last Thursday. Those accompanying tWe survey party included your Commonwealth Attorney, a repre sentative of our Planning Commission, Clerk, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, County Agent and Conservationist of the Culpeper-Rappahannock SCS workunit. Additional prelirrimary surveys for possible sites in the county will be made February 11th. These surveys have been prompted due to the accute water shortage in towns and on many farms including homes. Following these surveys top ographic map studies will be made of structure site areas to determine feasibility of muF ti-purpose watershed development. By multi-purpose impoundment structures, or water shed development, flood control, water impoundment, and recreational opportunities are included. Also economic justification must be established. Findings in detail will ultimately be presented T)ntil such are made available don't let your blood pressure get up or allow your altitude to crystalize in favor or, or against a project of this nature. It may, or may not prove economically sound or practical.
