Virgil Reid Updike, 54, of Washington, died Sunday, Janwjfy .16, 1965 at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, following a long period of ill health. He was a native of Rappahannock Coun* ty, son of the late David Cleveland Updike and Margaret Partlow Updike. A veteran World War II, he served on the North African and European fronts. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Verner Updike; one sister, Mrs. Kathleen Updike and a brother; H. Taylor Updike, all of Washington, Va. A graveside funeral service' was held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Masonic Cemetery at Washington with the Rev. William A. Harrison officiating. Pallbearers were J. W. Clatterbuck, T. Carlyle Lea, Marion Watts, Randall Updike, Raymond Jenkins and John Peyton Snead, IV. Geest Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Min Louise Freeman
Miss Louise Freeman, 53, of Washington, Va. died January 12, 1966 at her home. She is survived by four brothers, Robert R. Freeman, James Edward Freeman and Jack Freeman, all of Washington, Va. and Charles Frank lin Freeman of Viewtown; three sisters, Mrs. Mary R. Hicks, Mrs. Margaret E. Cope land and Mrs. Nancy Pointer, all of Washington, D.C. A funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church, Washington with interment in the Qdd Fellows Cemetery. Geest Funeral Parlors handled arrangements.
