The Boy Scouts of America are celebrating their 57th year of Scouting with February designated as Boy Scout Month and the week of February 7-43 proclaimed Boy Scout week. Though scouting is continuous,! week in and week outvjspeciaT attention is focused on thesej young people in February. ! The scouting movement was started in the British Isles; in 1908 with the purpose of training boys in the essentials of good citizenship. It spread rapidly until todqy it is to be found in every civilized country in the world.
The method adopted forpromoting good citizenship among the rising generation is active self expression and the desire to learn on the part of the boy rather than passive reception of instruction. Honor is made the high ideal of the boy, and each one upon joining promises pn his honor to do his best, to do his duty to God and country, help others at all times and obey the Scout law.
