Sponsors are the Virginia State Department of Health, MCV, the University of Virginia School of Medicine and the Children’s Bureau of the U* S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. The institute is conducted for Health education teachers in Virginia colleges ajtd for, city and county supervisors of health and physical education. J. Robert Anderson, director of the State Health Department’s Bureau of Health Edstitute, stated that “the purposes of the institute are to present information on recent research findings in public health, medicine and the related sciences as they concern the health of children and youth; to aid in keeping abreast of new developments in the health sciences and reduce health sciences and reduce the lag between development ,and application of new knowledge; and to stimulate more effective interdisciplinary planning at all levels." Lecture topics at the institute will include; | Mental illness in children and youth; changing mores; and problems of drugs, venereal diseases, illegitl - m acy and psyched el ics._ ! Director James H. Fox of the Division of Drug Studies and Statistics in the Food and Drug Administration will speak on "Psychedelics — Pharmacology,'Synthesis and Control’ at the opening session.

Mrs. Aubrey H. Smith, nurse coordinator of Rockefeller Institute’s drug addiction program, will discuss “The Prob lems of Procurement, Treat ment and-Control of Drug Addiction."

MCV’s Department of Psychiatry chairman, Dr. Henry D. Lederer, will give an ad-, dress on “Psychiatric Care — Past, Present and Future* at the December 9 morning session.

“Changing SOCIAL Mores i fYoUtfr* will be the subject ot a speech by Dr. Kai Ericksorf Yale University professor of sociology, at the final session. More than a dozen speakers are scheduled for the threeday meeting.
