The president - elect served as a consultant to the schools in Louisville and metropolitan Chicapo. He has been a consultant to the United States Army of the Pacific for troop education and to the U.S. State Department for education programs for U.S.A.D.I.
Doctor Nelson has been a member of evaluation teams for the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges and the national committee for the study of a national education computer network. In addition, lie has served as a consultant t° the U.S. Office of Education on computerized information networks.
Among the recent publications of Doctor Nielson are “An Admissions Man’s Guide to College Administration,” “The Clinical Professorship in Teacher Edu! cation,” and “The Creative Students and the School.”
Doctor Nelson comes to RPI to fill the position vacated by the retirement of Doctor Oliver. He | is married and has three daughters. The rector announced in September, 1966, the plans of the current president to retire. Commenting on Doctor Oliver’s administration as second provost and first president of RPI, Mr. Wilson said, “Doctor Oliver has served RPI devotedly and well during this period and all of us interested in the College are greatly indebted to him. The rapid expansion of RPI during his term of leadership is alone evidence of this;”
