( For residents of Rappahn| nock County, who are sendi ing more of their young men and young women to college these days, the cost of education is zooming. It has become a major financial expenditure in many families. In some cases, in fact, where there are two or more children to send to college, it actually involves a bigger capi tal investment than was made for the family home. The bill that local parents will be shouldering this year for college tuition alone, will amount to approximately $201,000, it is estimated. Facts and figures on college enrollments and costs have become available as the result of surveys and studies made by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, the Institute of Life Insurance and others. Nationally, they show, the number of college students has been rising sharply, going from 2,935,000 to 6,400,000 in the last six years. In Rappahannock County, the number has gone from approxr mately 70 in 1960 to an estimated total of 130 at the present time.
