Total rainfall for the month of August measured 7.99 inches in Amissville, according to Miss Lucille Riley who manages the official weather gauge there. She also stated that this was the heaviest rainfall in any one month in the past five years. From Sunday, August 20 through the morning of August 29, the gauge showed a total of 5.68 inches of rain.
