Apple Growers OK
Price To Processors
Virginia apple growers have agreed on a recommended price to processors for this season, Robert B. Delano, Virginia Farm Bureau President, announced today. The Apple Committee of the Virginia Farm Bureau Marketing Association arrived at a price posture after a complete study of the apple industry.
The following prices were recommended for growers to charge apple processors: Apples for sauce, $4.50 per hundred pounds. York apples of U. S. grade No. 1 and 2 1/2 inches and up, $4.75 to $5.00 per hundred pounds. (Last year’s recommended price was $3.75) Preferred apples of U. S. Grade No. 1 and 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 inches, $3.00 to $3.25. Sauce apples of same grade and size, $3.00. U. S. Grade No. 2 and two inches to 2 1/4 in size, $2.25. Juice apples in truckload lots, $2.25. Cider apples, $1.50 per hundred pounds.
