Including all these expenses, it might cost a family up to $3,200 a year to keep a youngster in a private college and up to $1,800 in a public college, according totheFami ly Economist, an insurance publication. Which means that the total investment for a family with three children at college for four years would range up to $38,400 if they choose private colleges and up to $21,600 at public colleges. The number of Rappahannock County families whose in comes are sufficient to absorb this kind of economic shock is on the increase, the figures indicate.
