bex education programs at all levels of public schooling, including elementary and primary grades, will be explained, and the ramifications of sex education will be discussed from the viewpoint of the parent, the clergy, and the medical profession. Details of the second conference—to be held in the spring—have not yet been announced. Each of the conferences is expected to draw approximately 500 school personnel.

The VEA instructional conferences are designed to provide in-depth exploration of current instructional issues, making available expert opinion, nationwide experiences, and recent research findings to Virginia localities. Dr. James Olivero, a National Education Association staff member and an authority on staff development and utilization, has been secured as VEA consultant-in-residence. His services will be made available to interested localities this spring.

The announcement of his employment follows a “highly successful* Virginia tour by the first VEA consultant-inresidence, Dr. Ethel Thompson.
