They will also conduct damage .assessment studies to determine the extent and nature of depredation problems and eval luate the effectiveness of different control methods. “The intensified and expanded research program will ibe focused on the development of more selective and less hazardous control materials and devices. It will include an ‘expanded search for reproductive inhibitors, selective ‘lethal agents, repellents and Sanesthetizing drugs. Promising new control materials will be field tested in all regions of the country where serious crop depredation situations occur. The funds allotted for the initial ld(?8 research phase of the project ‘will be used to select a research center site and to make the preliminary engineering ^designs for this facility."
