With the apples getting bright red and golden yellow and some folk covering their tomato plants at dusk and everyone asking, “Any frost down your way last night?", it’s getting toward the end of the year for many things and people. To the hunter though, frost and the red leaves on the gums is as a handful of warm, moist earth in March to the gardner. From now until the 15th day of February, there will be an open season on one or more types of game in Rappahannock County. With corn being cut for the silos, the dove hunter can expect these winged gray ghosts to be concentrating in the cut over fields. Legal shooting hours are from 12 o’clock noon Eastern Standard Time until sunset. Of course, this means while we’re still on fast time, shooting will begin at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight
