Chester Gap Carnival

Chester Gap firemen closed a successful four-night carnival Saturday. Pleasant weather contributed to the good attendance.

Climaxing the festivities Saturday was the awarding of the grand prize of $500 cash to Mrs. Loretta Lee of Washington, Va The second prize of $75 cash went to Ronnie Brown of Front Royal and A. M. Broyles of Shenandoah received the $25 cash prize. Mrs. Berta Williams of Chester Gap was the recipient of the porch chaise lounge given away Friday night in connection with the queen contest.

Miss Rachel Williams of Chester Gap was crowned queen of festivities Friday night and will be Honorary Fire Chief for the year She received her tiara from Mrs Barbara Atkins Heflin who held the title in 1967. Other queen contestants were Susan Vaughan, second; Juanita Brown, third and Gwen Broce, fourth.

The games, food, fun and entertainment furnished good wholesome family recreation and the volunteer fire organization is appreciative of the attendance and contributions made by all
