The Shenandoah Valley Educational Television Corporation will provide a full day’s schedule of in-school programming starting in September 1968. This report was made to the Corporation’s Annua) Membership Meeting by
President Dr. G. T^ler Miller at the Rockingham Pubic Library on Tuesday, July 2.
Construction progress has been almost on schedule and the ETV operation plans to start tests of its transmitting facilities on Elliott Knob near Staunton in mid-August, according to Arthur Hamilton, General Manager of the new station.
The Membership was told that plans called for the addition of Translator Channel 70 at Signal Knob in Warren County and that additional applications are to be filed with the Federal Communications Commission for two translators to serve the northeastern portion of the ETV district.
New members on the Corporation’s Board of Directors were announced as: Robert L. Inskeep, Culpeper County, Mrs. Elsie Whiteside, Rockbridge County; Mr. Clarence F. Gregory, Warren County, and Mr. Karl Sheffield, Waynesboro City Schools. Officers who were re-elected are Dr. G. Tyler Miller, President; Hamilton Shea, Vice President; Charles E. Cooley, Treasurer; Arthur Hamilton, Secretary.
Vice President’s of the Corporation are O. L. Boyd of Augusta County and Robert L. Inskeep, newly elected representative of the Northern Division of the ETV district.
Re-elected as Directors were State Senator George S. Aldhizer; John Alexander, Plant Manager of Reynolds Metals Company in Grottoes; Dr. G. Tyler Miller, President of Madison College; Vic Pringle, General Manager, Rockingham Poultry Cooperative, Broadway; and Hamilton Shea, Executive Vice President of Gilmore Broadcasting Corporation.
