Gasch of Castleton, president of the county fire association, made an inquiry into the financing of the annual fire school for the county and was assured that funds had been included in the budget for this use. The sale of the small graded schools at Washington and Amissville was authorized. Chairman Miller advocated the drafting of a resolution by the Board in appreciation of the services of the Rev. Charles Glaenzer in county and civic affairs. Mr. Glaenzer, who will leave the area the end of July, has been active on the budget committee, sewage committee, school affairs and PTA president.
A representative of the Tri-County Refuse Service was present to discuss servicing Rappahannock County with refuse units for each community. He offered a weekly pickup service. Board members E. M. Estes and Norman Wilbur and George H. Davis, Jr. Commonwealth Attorney met in committee to negotiate a contract for his service for nine locations to be serviced weekly with container sizes adjusted to meet the needs.
Hospital contracts with Winchester and Culpeper Memorial Hospitals were approved with per patient day rates at $33.15 and $37.46 respectively, and a $5 out patient rate for Winchester.
Combination storm and screen doors and sound doors for the courthouse were discussed and a committee appointed to pursue the cost of installation.
