4-H Turkey
Supper Saturday
The annual 4-H Clubs public supper will be held Saturday night, March 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the cafeteria of Rappahannock County Elementary School. Tickets are on sale or may be purchased at the door.
The menu will be turkey and gravy, candied yams, cranberry sauce, green beans, rolls, beverage and dessert. Adult dinners will be $1.25 and children under 10, will be 75 cents. Reservations for large groups must be made today and if you wish to have dinners to take out, place orders in advance, also.
Safety Comm. Meets
Next Wednesday Night
The Rappahannock County Safety Committee will meet on Wednesday night, March 19,1969 at the courthouse in Washington, Va. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public, according to R. E. Wood, Chairman.
Subscription Rate
To News Increases
The subscription rate for the Rappahannock News will increase beginning April 1. The local rate, which includes Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison, Page, Fauquier and Warren counties, will be $3.00; the rate for Virginia and the east coast will be $3.50; the mid-west will be $4.00 and the west coast will be $4.50. We regret having to increase our rate, but increases in postage and overhead makes this necessary.
Madison Livestock
Sets $2Million Gross
The annual meeting of the Madison Livestock Market, Inc. at Madison Mills was held Thursday, March 6th. Treasurer Walter Fifer reported that the market had a record gross income of over two million dollars. Elected as directors for the ensuing year were Douglas W. Tucker, Walter Fifer, J. P. Kite, Basil C. Burke, Jr., A. C. Hoffman, R. S. Crigler, Carlyle Crigler, Lawrence McDaniel, James Rose, Woodberry Lohr, A. N. Eddins, and Harry Berry. The regular 5 percent cash dividend plus an extra 5 percent cash dividend was declared for 1968.
