ladies and a hog calling contest for the men. One fellow practiced all morning on his calls. It was a constant “WHOOP, WHOOP, PIIIIIIG”. We had dinner and it finally came time for the hog calling. Our friend who had practiced so long had worn the old larynx down to a nub, he could barely whisper. An old colored gentleman tried. If there had been any hogs near I think they would have stood in their tracks and listened, his voice was so melodious. Then an old farmer tried, if there had been hogs within a hundred yard radius they might have responded. My friend said, “Si, try your hand.” Of course I knew what he meant, hogs don’t know sign language, so I rared back and let out a “WHOOOOEEE, WHOOEEE, WHOOOOOEEEEEeeeeeeeeee”! I could hear hogs squealing in the next county, trying to come to me. (I’ve got my fingers crossed.)
Seriously, why shouldn’t we make a joyful noise, not only to the Lord, but to the joy of associating with friends. Be glad, SMILE. GOD LOVES YOU.
