Norton, Superintendent of Schools, was present to discuss school operations and specifically salary proposals for teachers. After much discussion no direct action was taken, since some board members preferred to hear the salary scale which Wanren County will set this week, before adopting a salary scale here. Several different salary proposals were reviewed. Rappahannock County presently has a starting salary of $5600 and a maximum of $7200.
Robert L. Brown, Rappahannock County Treasurer submitted a request for a tax refund to Oscar Lindgren for the sum of $1,800. The refund was approved. Mr. Brown also requested that the procedure of going to each village in the county on a specified day to collect taxes be discontinued. He staled that he felt it no longer feasible to do this. The Board voted to discontinue these visits.
He also stated that there were several properties in the county which hud been turned over to the Welfare Department that needed to be disposed of. Tax revenue will be realized from the sale of these
