Kick-off Here
April has been proclaimed Cancer Crusade month in Rappahannock as this county joins the state and nation in a fund campaign to secure monies for use in research, treatment, education and prevention of cancer. The proclamation was made by Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, J. Newbill Miller, following the meeting Friday of this group.
The fund goal for Rappahannock County is $1,500 and the crusade unit chairman is Mrs. Mary S. Van Brederode of Blue Rock Farm, Washington, Va. She will have Mrs. Roberta Anderson of Woodville as her co-unit chairman and district leaders are: Hampton, Mrs. Harold Scoggin; Hawthorne, Mrs. J. L. Yowell; Stonewall, Mrs. Amos Butler; Jackson, Mrs. Herman Scharmer; Piedmont, Mrs. A. Y. Stokes and Wakefield, Mrs. Robert Clatterbuck. Each leader will have a number of workers assisting.
Sunday, April 13 has been designated as Cancer Sunday and the drive kick-off is Monday, April 14. Fund soliciting will be done by personal door-to-door contacts made by the district leaders and workers.
