Dr. J. W. Clark

Dr. John Washington Clark, 63, died Saturday, April 5, 1969 in a Martinsville hospital after a long illness.

Dr. Clark was a native of Rappahannock County, Son of the late John Wesley Clark and Alice Thornton Clark,

A graduate of the University of Richmond and the Medical College of Virginia, he had a private practice in Front Royal prior to entering the Navy in 1942. He was discharged from the Navy in 1946 as a lieutenant commander. He had been in private general medical practice in Martinsville since 1946.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sallie McArthur Mason Clark; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Marshall of Burke and Mrs. Matilda Walker of Washington, Va.

A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church, Martinsville, of which he was a deacon. Interment was in Roselawn Cemetery, Martinsville.
