On Land Changes
Farmers participating in programs administered by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service should report to the County ASCS Office any sale, purchase, lease, or rental of farmland, according to H.S. Barksdale, Chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation County Committee.
“I strongly urge those who have added to or reduced the size of their farms to get the information to the county office before signup time for the commodity programs,” said Chairman Barksdale.
He pointed out that when the size of a farm is changed, the ASCS records must be changed, including recalculation of farm allotments and basefl^ “We call it farm reconstitution,” he said, “and if the reconstitutions have been made and approved by the county committee before signup time, it saves time and effort for everybody.
Programs administered in Rappahannock County include: Agricultural Conservation Program, Feed Grain and Wheat Programs, Wool Program, Commodity Loans, Conservation Reserve and Cropland Adjustment Programs.
