The amendment is endorsed by the Commission of Agriculture, Agricultural Board of Virginia, Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, Committee of Industry and Agriculture, Virginia Forests, Inc., Virginia Forestry Council, Virginia Lumber Manufacturer’s Association, and numerous local citizens and groups. Recommendation was developed after one of the most thorough studies on land assessment ever conducted in the United States.
Mr. Frost was instrumental in paving the way for the study and served on the study commission conducted under the auspices of the Committee of the Industry of Agriculture.
The amendment passed by the house permits, but does not require, the General Assembly to adopt enabling legislation and its application would be at the option of the local governments.
