Library Lines
A Brownie Scout Troop of the Edsell Park Elementary School in Fairfax County collected some 50 “Easy Readers” for the children of Rappahannock County. It was a very thoughtful gesture, and this gift has been acknowledged by letter.

Cancer Ward by Alexander Solzhenitsyn whose novels, yet unpublished in U.S.S.R., represent a remarkable cross-section of contemporary Russian characters and attitudes.
A most welcome addition to our collection of Virginia Authors are 18 volumes of novels by Thomas Nelson Page.
Rounding out our literature on the history of the Civil War, the library purchased a biography of Ulysses S. Grant, in 3 volumes: the first volume written by Lloyd Lewis, the second and third by the eminent writer of Civil War history, Bruce Catton.
For the Virginia Shelf the library purchased two important books:
Virginia Baron, the story of Lord Fairfax, by Stuart Brown, jr. who lives in Berryville, and who is the author of other books dealing with Virginia history.
The Virginia Dynasties, the latest book by the distinguished historian Clifford Dowdey.
