Just heard a song, ‘It’s crying time again’. When is crying time for us so-called ‘he men”? Do we cry because we are sad, frustrated, or just for the relief of pent up emotions?

Some time ago I read a treatise on this subject. It seems that boys are taught that it is sissy to cry and that is a fallacy. Mothers should tell their sons: “Go ahead and cry, you’re a boy.” In so doing they relieve their tensions which in later life might cause psychological traumas.

Do any of you readers remember the days (we had ours at night) of the B.Y.P.U.? As young Bible students we learned quite a few things about the BOOK, such as the shortest verse found in John 11:35, JESUS WEPT. We have been taught that, Jesus was a HE MAN type of person, a rugged individualist. So, if Jesus wept why should I feel like a sissy when I give way to my feelings, and go out to myself and have a good cry? It is like a refreshing rain after a hot, dry spell.

It is assumed that we all have our disappointments. Maybe a friend has let us down, we feel lonely and neglected. It is at such times that we can look to the ONE who said: “I WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU’”
